The shortcomings of Brazil's prison system and their effects on organised crime and society itself are the subjects of the 13-episode documentary series Retratos do Cárcere, with each episode running 26 minutes. Its starting point is mass incarceration in Brazil, a phenomenon considered to be a driving force behind most of these problems.
